March 2016

                                       Health on Wheels
From the pastor:

For many years our vision for our Wednesday morning food pantry has been that groceries are the least of it.
That has been borne out as many people tell us they're not here for groceries -- they've come instead to see an attorney, a social worker, a mental health counselor. Now they can tell us they've come to see a nurse practitioner.
That amazing development comes as a result of GHS's brand-new Neighborhood Health Partners Mobile Health Clinic. Outfitted with a nurse practitioner who can write prescriptions, a paramedic for emergencies, and business personnel for the necessary administration and tracking, the clinic is scheduled to be in our parking lot two Wednesdays a month. That's necessary to allow a continuity of care and the potential for follow-up visits, according to Lane Chapman, program manager. "We want to ensure we are a dependable presence, without over-saturating the area," she said.
On the launch day in February, the clinic saw nine patients in the first four hours. Lane said they made appointments for some with primary care physicians and others were treated immediately on site.
We are delighted to have GHS join our team which also includes Dr. Darrell Jervey giving eye care through Surgeons for Sight, and a nurse and social worker placed by Bon Secours St. Francis Health System.

Genesis 1 reminds us that God gave humanity everything needed for life and entrusted us with the care of creation.  Unfortunately, many of us have drifted into a culture of indifference that uses resources, people and other living creatures in ways that are unjust and unsustainable.
Our challenge is to awaken to the consequences of our actions and provide inspiration to move toward what Pope Francis describes as a culture of care that treasures and protects our interconnected creation.
Toward that end, Triune will host an Earth Week gathering on Sunday, April 17, as our 6 PM worship.
If you would like to help organize this gathering, please contact Susie Smith at 864-634-4205 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . More importantly, we hope you will come for the worship service and subsequent discussion.

 Blessings,
 Deb
