May 2017

   'Nora Unchained'

From the pastor:

As some of you have experienced, our monthly Playback Cafe is one way we attempt to make the voices of our homeless parishioners heard. It generally involves fluid sculptures or short re-enactments of their stories.
But every once in awhile, director Dale Savidge attempts something more ambitious. He's doing that with "Nora Unchained" on May 21 at 6 PM in our dining hall.
Dale has spent time this spring interviewing women at Serenity Place, Shepherd's Gate and Miracle Hill's Renewal program about the obstacles they face -- eviction, childcare, abuse, transportation, etc. From their responses, Dale has written a script about fictional 42-year-old Nora Helmer, a mother of two.
Dale's interactive "forum theatre" experience will present the audience a problem and ask them to find solutions. Audience members will join the actors onstage as they offer keys to unlocking Nora's "chains."
We hope you will join us for this exciting evening of theater at Triune.

Blessings,
Deb
