Faith in Action Forum: Mission and Justice Fairs
From the associate pastor

Do you want to take next steps into living out the Gospel right here in Greenville?  Have you become discouraged about the tiny light of the Gospel in the midst of a culture drenched in consumerism, self-preoccupation, and racism?  Are you ready to engage in addressing the root causes of poverty and injustice, rather than simply participating in charity? If so, the Faith in Action Forum is for you!

Come for an inspiring message from Jack Jezreel, who created JustFaith, a 9-month, small-group-based, spiritual journey addressing the intersections of spirituality and social justice.  And come for the Mission and Justice Fair component of the event, to learn more about twleve local non-profits who are working in the community in powerful ways.  And come to connect with others who are on fire with the power of the Gospel for compassion and justice in our city.

The event will be held on Thursday, August 31 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, with Jack Jezreel speaking around 6 p.m.

Triune’s own Support Circles will be represented at the Mission and Justice Fair, along with:
Homes of Hope (affordable housing and job training for men),
United Ministries (GED program, job training and placement),
     Soteria (re-entry program for ex-felons),
     SWITCH (fighting sex trafficking),
JustFaith’s Church of Second Chances (prison reform),
SHARE Circles (support circles like ours here at Triune),
     Habitat for Humanity (affordable housing),
     Mill Community Ministries (community development),
Community Works (financial services for the underserved),
Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America (gun violence prevention), and
     Nature Conservancy (creation care).

New JustFaith groups are forming, to begin in September, so this is a great time to learn more about those and consider embarking on this fabulous spiritual journey; Triune will host a Thursday evening group led by Susan Stall.  I myself led a JustFaith group a few years ago; it is a powerful, formative, inspiring experience that you will not regret.
