September 2017
Girls' Night Out ... with a twist

From the pastor:

We are always amazed at what some of our volunteers tell us about seeing God's hand at work.
Lyndon Vestal, for instance, had a background in cancer research. When she came to us in 2014 to volunteer for child care during Triune Circles, one of our Circles leaders was facing a serious cancer diagnosis that would eventually take her life. Lyndon was able to counsel with her and recommend camp opportunities for the woman's two daughters.
Lyndon returned to us recently to see if we had another volunteer opportunity with Circles, our year-long program in which volunteers "encircle" a leader who is trying to emerge from poverty, stabilize his or her life, find steady employment, etc. We mentioned the Monday night meal for 25 that we need each week.
Lyndon approached her Girls' Night Out group of seven women who had met for food and conversation for 20 years. The supportive group of friends, she recognized, was not unlike a Triune Circle. So her friends agreed to provide a meal one Monday night each month.
They enjoyed it so much that Lyndon then approached her sister, Ruth Neil, and her daughter, Anna Okupinksi, who, in turn, pulled in their women's groups to provide two more meals each month.
Lyndon is now seeking a final group to provide a fourth Monday night meal for Circles. "I like to cook anyway," she said, as she sat down to enjoy pork loin and asparagus and slaw with our folks last Monday, "but to cook for a group that's this appreciative is something special."
If you have a group who would like to cook and serve a meal for 25 Circles participants once a month, contact Lyndon at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  .
Thank you, Lyndon. We hope your Girls' Night Out at Triune continues for many years.
